Village of C.A.R.E. Food As Medicine Initiative
In partnership with Northern Regional Center (NRC) Food As Medicine Pilot program, The Village of C.A.R.E. spent six months helping analyze the connection between nutrition and wellness for families in Wake County. NRC provided 50 pound nutrient-rich food boxes every 2 weeks, The Village offered hands-on education, along with healthy yet tasty meals using the foods participants received to help manage chronic illness. Each family not only received fresh produce and culturally relevant foods, but also took part in interactive sessions on cooking, mindful eating, and how nutrition affects mental and physical health. This initiative is a powerful example of how access, education, and compassion can come together to support long-term healing.
